Change is Inevitable
Why hold onto what you have to let it go of? —-Jhene Aiko.
I’m Backkk!!!!
I have missed you all so much! So much has happened and transpired in my life since this year has taken its course. I am so grateful and so Blessed to be here, covered and protected. AHHHHHHH!!
So if you follow me on social media, many of you have already seen the good news! I became a FLIGHT ATTENDANT! Wow right. Yes I know. But I wanted to give you all a quick little background story about timing in your twenties.
Your twenties will teach you some things about yourself. We are all in a constant battle of “keeping up”. And by this we are always left feeling like we are moving slower than others, or moving too fast. Social media has put a time stamp on our lives and we are made to feel like we have to do what everyone else is doing. I am here to tell you that is not the case. Slow down. Embrace this twenty something phase.
I battled last year with change. I hate complacency. But people before us have also taught us it is okay to stay where we are at. And I am also here to tell you that is not the case. We live in a generation where change is inevitable. If you don’t like something, change it. Simple. No longer should you "FEEL” like you have to stay at a place of work for more than 10+, stay in that relationship that doesn’t fuel you, whatever the case may be. Yes, this was a very common thing in the past but how are you growing? Similar to a blog I previously posted, in order to grow we must challenge ourselves and be made uncomfortable.
As for me, I outgrew retail. And silly me I kept trying to force myself back into it. I applied to be a flight attendant in 2016, 2018 & 2019. One out of the three I got declined. The second time I declined because I THOUGHT taking a more convenient route would suffice.(face palm) Absolutely not. Convenient isn’t always easy. I suffered the consequences. I grew. I had to change old habits. I had to take jobs I didn’t like because I knew that something that was FOR ME was waiting for me at the end of it all. I waited. I sat with it. Changed with the process. Grew in my uncomfortableness.
I’m saying this to say. Grow at your own pace. Go at your own pace. Glow at your own pace. These twenties are for trial and error. What do you have to lose? What is the path you chose? Get out of our own way. Stop letting people, family, friends, social media, jobs, force you into believing that you have to stay where you are. You don’t. Grow. Challenge yourself. Prove to yourself that you are ABLE. I am telling you that you are able.
I used to pray to God all the time “God I just want to travel the world and tell a story” .
Answered prayers and delivered Blessings………
Get out of your own way.
—Yours Purely
